    2427-HIT COMBO!

    HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY!!!

“Welcome to the Revolution, well sort of :)” – LoverOfHokuto May 19th 2008

Man what a revolution it has been over the past 10 years, sooooo many projects have been seen and
conquered. It feels amazing that Hokuto No Gun has done so much especially with the Beastly Combo Counter still
rising exceeding the 2000 mark. From my humble beginnings of being a huge fan of Fist of the North Star back in the Heart of
Madness days helping out on Hokuto No Ken 2 as QC to editor of multiple anime/manga titles, it just feels amazing
to be a part of this group and even helping out with Saizen on Ashita No Joe.

I still remember when I was finishing up on HnK2, LoH asked me to help out with SnK and of course I
wouldn’t dare say no the opportunity of helping out translating the Hokuto series. I never would’ve that
the series would make me so passionate in my entire life from making parody videos, to funny posts in the
forum to even creating the banner for this site and the HoM site. Then he introduced me to SystematicChaos
and that’s where the destiny was decided with working on other anime/manga titles.

It feels great to know (and a common thing to hear) that my basic understanding of Japanese would come from
Hokuto No Ken and that it would lead me to helping on with classic animes I didn’t know about until people
got excited to hear we would be working on them. From Bo-bobo laughing at anything random to Sakigake!! Otokojuku,
laughing and loving the manly fights.

The team here at HnG have been true soldiers and deserves a huge round of applause for all the work they’ve done over the years.

Well I’m not very good with my words but I’ll just say here’s to the 10 years of Hokuto/Old school manly work that has been achieved!

Now dry your tears and download today’s episode where now shit’s about to get real serious with the character everyone has been waiting for!
Even their faces are surprised that he’s finally made his appearance!

    Muscle Up!

    From SpiritofHokuto20xx

    ==============================
Wow, what to say? Part of me is saying “Has it already been ten years?” while another part is saying “Has it only been ten years?” Now I may not have been one of the founding members of Hokuto no Gun, but it was only a few months in when I offered to help as a translator for Souten no Ken as a little kid fresh out of high school, and now I’m pushing thirty and still sticking to what we started way back when. It’s been a long ride full of ups and downs, but let me say that (I mean this in all seriousness) I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for HnG.

Looking back, these past ten years have been filled with lots of changes in my personal, professional, and social life, but Hokuto no Gun has been one of the few things that’s been with me all this way, and there’ve been so many people I’ve met through here that I’ve had lasting and meaningful friendships with, like LoverofHokuto, SpiritofHokuto, Kazuhiko, DestroyerRing, Ahab, AngelofChaotix, and more. Not to mention the absolute joy of being able to introduce all sorts of manga and anime to all of you, as well as providing translations for some of your favorites that aren’t getting love elsewhere! And of course, we couldn’t have done it without all the other contributors who’ve come and gone throughout the years.

So here’s to the next ten years, everybody! I can’t honestly say if we’ll still be here when 2028 rolls around, but we’ll see what the future’s got in store. In the meantime, let’s celebrate how far we’ve come and keep looking to the future!

    And speaking of getting older…

    Here’s I’m Still Alive… (Manga): MediaFire

I figured this would be fitting for a day like today. Here’s another short series from the godfather of MANga Motomiya Hiroshi, with some rather heavy themes of aging, dying, alienation, etc. And I know I’m nowhere near retirement age yet (nor are most of you), but I think there’s a part of all of us that can connect with Okada Kenzo in some way, so prepare for an experience that’s at least a little bit emotional and relatable. And just like Kenzo, so too will HnG keep on living until we die!

And for those of you who aren’t here for the human dramas and want some pulpy action instead, we’ve got you covered, too…

Here’s chapter 34 (Mad Bull 34 manga): MediaFire

Yeah, of course the 34th chapter of Mad Bull 34’s gotta be a big deal, right? And this time, our favorite boys in blue are hunting a criminal who gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “I don’t give a flying fuck.”

And Kengan fans, don’t worry, you’re not being left to the wayside because here’s chapter 108 (Kengan Asura manga): MediaFire

And this has to be one of the emotional highlights of the series so far. Just so much respect all around. Kaneda, Gaolang, our hats go off to both of you, just like it goes off to all of the fans who’ve given us respect and support all these years.

And that’s all from me! Now without further ado, here’s the man who started it all…

    ==============================
    Greetings Ol’ Sports!

Yes, I’m still alive and haven’t died yet, but I have been out of the loop for a very long time due to a heavy workload and constantly moving to different countries in the past years. That said, I was sadly not able to complete the last chapter of Garuda Gaiden for this momentous occasion as I intended due to extremely pressing deadlines, but I will do so relatively soon…promise. Besides, things might change within this year with my job, so I hope to get back into the loop and finish the many translations that have been waiting a long time for a final proof check. The Hokuto fans deserve this.

Now enough of that. Let’s celebrate these 10 wonderful years that began with a desire to do Souten no Ken after the website HeartofMadness made it clear that they were not going to continue any form of Hokuto after completing the HnK tv series. The dream to complete Snk soon led to the desire to complete everything Hokuto thanks to the many wonderful comrades that have come and gone, but most of all, for the ones that stayed through thick and thin in the likes of fellow project managers SystematicChaos and SpiritofHokuto. HnG is greatly indebted to those two fellows as they took the reigns and kept this site going during my long sabbatical and decided to do many other excellent old school projects that would have never seen the light of day. In light of this, I would just like to set the record straight that the lack of Hokuto releases has therefore been entirely my fault as the rest of the staff have always been quick to respond (much thanks Akromata) whenever I have had a little time. I will make up for this, as well as update the donors page when I get some breathing space. In the meantime, enjoy the goodies this site provides and await a pleasant surprise relatively soon.

With that, I just want to say long live HnG! Viva!

Congratulations gentlemen! Been watching from the sidelines even though I’ve been way too busy to go back to the scanlation fold. It’s truly impressive how long this group has been going. Much love to comrades like Ahab and the OG LoH, and also to the guys keeping it going now. Also much thanks to the people who have worked with and around HnG over the years, like Arara and the other scanlation groups.

I hope you know even though you don’t get all the thanks you deserve, you’re making a positive difference.

What better news after a hard day’s work than a new Kinnikuman release. :)

Congrats to all the team for these ten years of bringing manime to the world. I had no hope of watching Kinnikuman once I read the manga, knowing that the anime was never officially translated but then I found you guys. Thanks to you I can enjoy the anime adaptation of what’s my second favorite manga, right next to Dragon Ball. thank you for the hard work! :D
