An apocryphal edition of the Otogizoshi tells us that after Emperor Konoe married Tamamo-no-Mae, an evil kitsune believed to be the cunning Da-Ji from Chinese lore, and began to notice misery and death tormenting his own people, he decided to ask his best warrior Miura-no-suke to put an end to her reign of destruction in a manner befitting both an epic poem and what some would consider a sleazy porn film.
While in the original tale, Miura-no-suke put an end to Tamamo-no-Mae with arrows so it would become the infamous Killing Stone, this version of the brave hero would ask Amaterasu-Omikami to grant him power to overcome the power and cunning the kitsune yielded. Amaterasu listened to his plea and after transforming him into an exact replica of Emperor Konoe, told him that Tamamo-no-Mae would be at its weakest during lovemaking and thats when he will granted a one time opportunity to incinerate her very being with the Flame of the Sun he would be carrying on his, hmm, lower regions. Miura-no-suke would prove himself succesful as the evil creature had a lust few could satisfy and as soon as she received the flame of the sun, her body was turned into ashes. 3 days later, 10 buddhist monks would gather the ashes, mix them with blessed herbs as well as minerals and form what would be the Sessho-seki at Tochigi.
Letters authored by Nobunaga Oda explain he was well versed with the sexual variant and always found it funny how Miura-no-suke actually gave Tamamo-no-Mae his “shaft”, “penetrating” her seemingly indestructible hold over Japan and saw the question shown at the main post more like a metaphor that sometimes answers can be found on the most abrupt and strange ways.
