Thanks a bunch, so the video quality is better than the previous file? Cool.

    7. Yeah it is, because it’s an mkv as opposed to the previous avi. I do want to point out here that we haven’t discarded the avi, so you can expect all our future releases (apart from the SnK anime) in both avi and mkv formats from now on.

So what’s the difference between the two:
      MKV: The good
      1. Excellent video and audio quality.
      2. You can add stuff to the file like subs, dual audio, dual video because the file is an open container.
      MKV: The bad
      1. You tend to need codecs or a vlc player to play it.
      2. It doesn’t run on most home DVD players.
      AVI: The good
      1. Very Good video and audio quality.
      2. Runs on most players, including most home divx compatible DVD players.
      AVI: The bad
      1. It has a lower video and audio quality (only frowned on by perfectionists) to mkv.
      2. You can’t add anything to it once it’s encoded, unlike mkv.

MKV’s run perfect on media players like Tvix 6500, Popcorn Hour, HDX-1000.

    9. Bloodsack says:

      oh yeah…. thanks guys:)

    10. Anon says:

I use Media Player Classic. It’s pretty small, but it seems to be able to handle almost any video type I throw at it, aside from flv. MKV and AVI though both play great on it.

That aside, thanks for the nicer video!

    11. Yeah, I quite like Media Player Classic myself.

    12. MrGerbik says:

nothing wrong with avi, unless you want h264 instead of x264 video codec. in which case, .mp4 is just as good as mkv and is supported by most players (e.g. ps3/360) – the only gripe some people have is that it’s not as “open” as mkv’s are, but then again… that’s why mp4 is recognized by most players and mkv is not. period.

      just my 2 cents.

Still using hardsubs in a .MKV?? :/
