    New Project Recruitment

Hey all. SystematicChaos here. I’m the translator for the SnK anime and translation checker for the SnK manga.

We at Hokuto no Gun have been recently talking about expanding our borders beyond Hokuto-related material through various side projects. Don’t worry, our Hokuto projects will remain a priority, and these won’t slow down our regular releases. We just have some untranslated anime that we feel needs to be fansubbed. Expect stuff like Kinnikuman. We’re all very excited to get started.

However, as you can tell by the slow releases HnG is currently putting out, we are very busy people and we can’t manage all these projects by ourselves. Therefore, we are creating new teams under our supervision to work on these projects. We would appreciate any help we can get so that LoverofHokuto doesn’t have to bite off more than he can chew.

Therefore, I’d like to announce my first side project, as well as offer recruitment positions for the project. The anime I will be subbing is Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, which I feel deserves a good sub seeing how the dub screwed it over. I have translated almost half of the episodes, but I can’t cover everything if I want a quality product. Therefore, I would like to recruit for the following positions:

    Timer

Translation Checker: Must be fluent in both English and Japanese. This is not an anime where you can guess things by context! Must have a sufficient grasp of English grammar.

Typesetter: Must also be able to do karaoke.

    I will personally translate.

Those interested, please email me at systematic.chaos.713@gmail.com or send me a PM at our forum. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to subbing the biggest mindf*** in anime history.

In other news, you can look forward to faster releases of the SnK manga than LoH predicted.

EDIT: Please welcome our new timer and encoder for this side project, Super_Sonic, and our typesetter Walker Prescott! Still looking for translation checkers, and more typesetters would be preferred!

You deserve a gold medal for doing this! Wish I knew some japanese so I could help out. I’d give my left nut to see this series get subbed. All the very best of luck.

    2. Chued says:

Too bad I cant help you with any of these but at least I will help sharing the torrents or something!

Kinnikuman would be something like a dream coming true. :D

    3. Axio says:

Oh. That’s great news. If you could maybe try to do something with Fuma no Kojiro anime. It’s awsome.

    4. NoLyfeKing says:

That is cool, i might think about it.

    5. Walker Prescott says:

Hey! Super_Sonic told me I should try out. According to him, I have wicked typesetting skills. So he said I should try out to typeset Bo-bobo for you. My only requirement is that I wouldn’t be the only typesetter working on it, because I have a lot of stuff I need to do. But other than that, I’d love to help out.

    6. SystematicChaos says:

Thanks for volunteering. Don’t worry, you won’t be the only typesetter if we can find someone else. But in case you didn’t realize already, we at HnG are not known for our speed, so you can take all the time you need. I’ll send an email to you once we’re ready to start typesetting.

Now all we need is a translation checker before we can get started. Anyone? Oh, and preferably another typesetter too.

    7. Walker Prescott says:

Coolness! I’ll start experimenting with some fonts now.

    8. Super_Sonic says:

Does anyone know what the font was that Mugen used for their Bo-bobo subs? Its font looked good, maybe we should use it too: http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/9873/xhfg0.png

It’s just too bad they stopped at episode 7

    9. zamunda says:

Hey this is great news! Personally i don’t find Bobobo to be funny, at least the anime (the dubbed version). And Kinnikuman is a great choice.

    10. SystematicChaos says:

Oh I don’t blame you for not finding the dub funny. But trust me. The Japanese version and the dub have almost no point of comparison. In other words, it’s much much better.

Freakin’ dubbers always have to screw up our favorite shows and make people in the West hate em… mumble grumble…

    11. ZombieToaster says:

Im not personaly interested in this series but im glad to see you expand your horizon. I have some series I hope to see fansubbed/scanlated someday. But Im not gonna request you do them. :P

    12. Walker Prescott says:

What? I actually liked the dub… I thought it preserved the wacky nature of the show to the Western audience, without having to explain a bunch of japanese wordplays. But hey, we all have our opinions. It’s probably because the dub was my first exposure to Bo-bobo.

And as far as fonts, one that I’m liking so far is CCThingamajig. Look it up, it’s pretty cool.

    13. Super_Sonic says:

You should check out Impress BT. It’s a font very commonly used for fansubs. I have also taken a liking in Franklin Gothic medium. You should check those both out, too. :P You’ll probably need more than one font, anyway.

    14. Sklave says:

I checked bakaupdates just the other day to see if bobobo had been subbed by any groups, and I don’t remember finding any. Great idea!

    15. SystematicChaos says:

Technically, we’re not the first to sub Bo-bobo. Mugen subbed the first seven episodes, but they were goody-two-shoes and stopped when the dubbers started skewing it.

    16. Kinnikuman fan says:

When the first episode will be on air?

    17. SystematicChaos says:

When it’s finished. That’s all I can tell you.
